Lia Kastiyo-Spinósa

editor, artist, cultural worker

Born 1992, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Based in Vienna,  Austria since 2018.

Editor, interdisciplinary artist, cultural worker.

My main media for artistic/conceptual production are collage, drawing, poetry, photography, and performance. I am particularly interested in processes of collective artistic practices, in which art, theory and life experiences are put in confluence and valued as a significant part of knowledge production, oscillating between the periphery and the institutions.

My artworks attempt to address questions of their own materiality and means of (re)production, as well as  about ancestral cosmologies and reciprocal ways of life associated with (physically and structurally) marginalized territories, and the cultural practices rooted in them.

I have presented my artistic work at Queer Museum Vienna, Kunsthalle Wien, Exhibit Studio, verein maiz and WIENWOCHE Festival. I have held talks and workshops at Brunnenpassage, Klima Camp Wien, Volksstimmefest Wien, and MUSMIG-Museum der Migration. During the last ten years, I have worked as an editor, proof-reader and writer for different editorial projects and institutions, such as Hypatia: A Journal of Feminist Philosophy, UNAM México, enlafrontera (publishing house of Latin American Group of Studies, Education and Feminist Action- GLEFAS), maiz, eSel SCHWARM.

Since 2019 I have been part of the editorial team of migrazine- online magazine by migrant women* for everyone.
